What you’re quitting is nobody’s business. That’s why your data lives on your device, and even our server can’t read your group’s messages.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is Samen Clean free?
Yes. Your group, the emergency button, check-ins, streaks, levels and helplines are free. Plus is an optional subscription for people who want more, such as several habits at once.
Do I need an email address?
No. You choose a nickname and get a recovery code. We don’t ask for an email address, phone number or real name.
Can Samen Clean read my data?
No, not the content. Your data is on your phone and group messages are encrypted. The server only sees a random account ID, which group it’s in and when there’s traffic.
What if I lose my phone?
With your recovery code you can restore your encrypted backup on a new device. Without that code nobody can get to it, including us. So keep it safe.
What do my friends see?
Your nickname, avatar colour, level, the category of your habit, your current streak, whether you checked in today and your emergency alerts. They don’t see your ‘why’, your mood, your triggers or your costs. A relapse is not shown as such.
What happens if I relapse?
Your streak starts again from zero. You keep your XP, level and badges. Starting over is part of it.
How does the emergency button work?
Your group gets a push notification right away and can respond with one tap. You also see a breathing exercise and your own why, and helplines are always one tap away.
Is this professional help?
No. Samen Clean is a peer-support tool, not a medical device and not a replacement for professional help. Stopping some substances, such as alcohol, can be medically risky: talk to your doctor. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (112 in Europe).
How big is a group?
2 to 8 people. You can only join with an invitation from someone in the group.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. In the app you can download all your data or delete your account. Encrypted messages you already sent to a group disappear from the server within 30 days. They’re stored there without a sender.
What’s the minimum age?
Samen Clean is only for people aged 18 and over.
Which languages?
The app is available in 14 languages, including English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish and Polish.
